Brandon M. Tauberg, M.D.



Dr. Tauberg is an orthopaedic surgeon who received dedicated fellowship training in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and shoulder reconstructive surgery. His goal is to return patients to their desired activities and lifestyles, utilizing both non-operative and the newest operative techniques.

The patient and family care experience is of primary importance to Dr. Tauberg. Having treated patients of all ages and athletes of all performance levels, from weekend warriors to professionals, Dr. Tauberg understands the goals of his patients and utilizes his skills and training to develop a multidisciplinary plan in returning people to their desired level of activity and function. Dr. Tauberg focuses on sporting and non-sporting injuries to the knee, shoulder, and elbow in patients ranging from teenagers to adults.

Dr. Tauberg is from Pittsburgh, originally raised in Squirrel Hill and then O’Hara Township. He attended Fox Chapel Area High School before completing his bachelor’s degree in Health Policy and Administration at the Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA. He then received his medical degree at the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Upon graduation from medical school, Dr. Tauberg completed a general surgery internship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He then moved to New York City for his orthopaedic surgery residency training at Montefiore Medical Center / Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. Here, he had the opportunity to act as a team physician, taking care of athletes at Lehman College, Truman High School, Lehman High School, and Columbus High School.

After residency, he completed his specialized fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. While there, Dr. Tauberg acted as the team physician for Deer Park High School, and an associate team physician for the Houston Cougars (NCAA Div 1), Houston Dynamo (MLS), Houston Dash (NWSL), Houston Texans (NFL), Houston Rockets (NBA), and Houston Astros (MLB).

Dr. Tauberg has authored numerous papers and chapters that have been published in orthopaedic journals and textbooks. Many of his papers have been presented at national meetings. He is currently a candidate member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He operates out of St. Clair Hospital and sees patients at the South Hills Orthopaedic Surgery Associates office at Oxford Center.

Dr. Tauberg enjoys spending time with his family. His wife is originally from Mt. Lebanon and is a Clinical Nurse Specialist specializing in critical care. Together, they have one child. He enjoys following Pittsburgh sports, golfing, playing soccer, hiking, and enjoying the ever-changing food scene in Pittsburgh.
